Katy Market Days
3rd Saturday of the Month
Katy Market Days events are held every third Saturday of the month (March through December). The themed events - which have included quilt shows, beer garden, motorcycle and car shows, etc. - are fun for the entire family. Features include booths of arts and crafts, antiques and collectibles, local produce and much more. Market Days events take place between Second Street and Avenue B.
Katy ISD FFA Livestock Show & Rodeo
February 18-20, 2016
One of the largest school rodeos in Texas, the three-day event attracts some of the best rodeo professionals in the country. The rodeo and livestock show is a proud Katy tradition and one of our most historic events. This community driven rodeo is home to the Katy ISD FFA, one of the strongest in the state. The event brings entertainment to audiences and supports the FFA students. Some of the activities include a parade, livestock show, auction, carnival, bull riding, barrel racing, bronc riding, calf roping, calf scramble and mutton busting. The rodeo is held at the L.D. Robinson Pavilion and Rodeo Arena.
Folk Life Festival
Held in April at the Kenneth D. Welch Outdoor Learning Center by Katy ISD, the festival takes place on the wooded 34.5-acre site. See, hear and smell black powder rifles and cannons booming, campfires burning, pottery wheels turning, the soft twang of the dulcimers, aroma of corn cakes to sample and open fire cooking. Come see and experience life on the prairie as it was a hundred years ago.
Katy Freedom Celebration

The City of Katy hosts a daylong, family-oriented Independence Day celebration across Katy for our residents and visitors. The day starts at VFW Park and the City of Katy Fire Station on Avenue D with food, games and fun. The Heritage Society Homes, Heritage Museum, and VFW Museum are open to visitors and the Fire Department, VFW and Parks and Recreation Department will host activities. The day’s festivities end with a magnificent fireworks display at Katy Mills Mall.
Rice Harvest Festival

Held on the second weekend in October in Historic Downtown Katy, the annual Rice Havest Festival is a big, two-day event of excitement and family fun with two stages of continuous live entertainment, craft and food booths, carnival and more. The festival, which began in 1980, celebrates the rich farming and harvest traditions and area heritage. It is a must attend event for the entire family, with excellent local and area participation.
Katy Old-Fashioned Christmas

The Parks and Recreation Department and Katy Market Days partner on the first Saturday of December to bring this Christmas festival to Historic Downtown Katy. Beginning in the morning, visitors can enjoy carolers as they stroll among the food booths, gift vendors, and even a snowfield for the kids, and the Parks and Recreation Department hosts activities for children in the evening. Santa makes his appearance each year for photos and comes back in the evening aboard a City fire truck for the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. In addition, musical groups from local schools perform for the spectators before the Mayor kicks off the Christmas season by lighting the tree.
Katy Half Marathon

The Katy Half Marathon is the only half marathon distance race in the west Houston area and features athletes from all over the city and Texas. It boasts three events in one day – half marathon, 5K and Kids 1K. The sanctioned USA Track & Field event has thousands of participants and partners with many charities. From start to finish, the race is well organized, has great support, amazing volunteers, and enjoyable for both racers and spectators.
Katy Jazz Festival

Katy Wild West Brewfest

A Texas legend, the Katy Triathlon is put on by the Katy Rotary Club and includes a 500-meter swim, 12-mile bike and 3-mile run in the beautiful community of Firethorne. All proceeds from the race benefit the scholarship fund of the Rotary Club of Katy, which provides grants to graduating seniors of Katy ISD and funds other valuable community projects.
Southland Conference Basketball Tournament

The Southland Conference Basketball Tournament tips off every March at the Merrell Center in Katy. Teams battle for a bid into the NCAA Tournament with first round games starting on Wednesday and the Championship game on Saturday.
